Competition confusion suggests Canadian iPhone in Jan 2008

For a moment it seemed like all-systems-go for Canada, where legions of Apple-hungry shoppers with wads of Canadian dollars burning holes in their pockets have been anxiously waiting for the iconic handset, as Molson Export - a beer company based in Quebec - advertised a competition in which several iPhones are to be the prize. Listed as using the Rogers Wireless network and worth $800 each, it was claimed the handsets would be delivered to winners in January 2008.

$800 dollors these people are crazy if alot of people in canada buy this phone it proves how different an slow canadians are.

E-Bay pulling iphone pre-orders

eBay has finally gotten around to deleting all the iPhone pre-order auctions that have been popping up on the site. With this move, eBay is hoping to avoid some of the problems that came by allowing such auctions last year with the launch of the PS3 and the Wii. When the PS3 and Wii were nearing launch, a number of people put up auctions before they had the consoles in hand, but ended up empty-handed on release day. Thus, all those bidders who paid well over $1000 for one got screwed. Some managed to get refunds, but others were stuck waiting for weeks to get their money back.
So in a pre-emptive move, eBay has instituted policies requiring a photograph of the actual item in question to be included with the auction, as well as the seller ID of the person running the action.
So what happens to those who “won” iPhone pre-order auctions that went through before eBay pulled them? Well, so far eBay has not yet released a statement on how it will handle auctions that already went through, so I guess we can assume that they’ll need to hope the seller actually delivers the iPhone. And if they don’t, they’ll need to go through eBay’s usual fraud complaint policy.Sphere:

Why people would pay more then double the amount for an i-phone is something i cant really come up with a good reason for.but ohh well cant do it anymore so just go to apple buy an iphone contact me to unlock, now thats a great way to get an i-phone!

NEW 3GB I-Phone

The new 3G iPhone is expected to include features like global positioning for navigation services. In fact, sources say Apple has tapped Broadcom's Global Locate unit to supply chips for the phone.

why would apple discontinue the 4GB i-phone to come out with a 3GB i have no clue its stupid to me.but hey something apple is doing is working because everyone is still buying them an to the people with the 4GB feel special think of it as a limited edition i-phone.

No new applications

Businessweek reports that Apple may indeed be launching an official software development kit at this January's Macworld Expo.According to "sources familiar with the company's plans":
Apple will release a software-development kit for the iPhone in early 2008, enabling programmers to create games, business-productivity tools, and countless other applications for the device. This is the latest iteration of rumors that Apple will or will not be introducing an official software development kit for the iPhone. At present, Apple's official stance is that applications for the iPhone should be written using web-technologies (HTML/Javascript) to be accessible through the iPhone's Safari. A number of conflicting reports have expressed beliefs that Apple would further expand these Web tools or invite specific developers to produce true applications on the iPhone.

To me new applications are stupid since my phone is unlocked an i get all this stuff for free anyways.apple need to come up with better thing cause its all getting old!!!!
