The 3G iPhone has been naught but a rumor until AT&T (NYSE: T) CEO Randall Stephenson opened his mouth recently and spilled the beans. Oh, how Steve Jobs must be fuming right now. All Stephenson would commit to is "next year", but that's enough for many.
Though the iPhone has been a good seller since its June 29 debut, there are many who have decided against purchasing it because it is limited to EDGE data networks and can't access faster 3G wireless data speeds. Looks like they won't have to wait too much longer before a 3G version of the iPhone becomes available.
At a meeting in California, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson told reporters that a 3G version will be available next year. He also said that he couldn't say exactly when it will be available, or how much more it will cost than the current version of the iPhone, which sells for $399.
Combining 3G data speeds with a device that can run third-party applications will likely make 2008 a banner year for the iPhone. The SDK for the iPhone will be released in February, and we'll probably have more details come MacWorld in January. Whether or not Jobs will use that event to launch the next version of the iPhone is unknown, but it isn't beyond reason.
Some suggest that the reason the iPhone isn't widely available across Europe is because it isn't 3G. Spain's Telefonica, for example, has reportedly held off on releasing the iPhone until it is 3G enabled because it has only GPRS and HSPA networks running. GPRS is slower than EDGE, and makes for a poor experience.
According to analysts, the number of people who put off buying an iPhone now to wait for a 3G one won't affect immediate iPhone sales too much. With nearly 1.5 million of them already sold, Jobs' original goal of selling 10 million of the converged devices by the end of 2008 is certainly looking like more of a reality.

Orange to sell unlocked iPhone for 649 euros
France Telecom just announced that the iPhone will go on sale tonight at 6:30pm (18.30) at a dozen of its Orange stores across France. It will charge between €49 ($72) and €119 ($175) per month in addition to the €399 cost of the iPhone itself. After 6 months, Orange customers can unlock their iPhone for another €100 euro. The iPhone will also be sold unlocked for €649 ($957)
without an Orange contract or €549 ($809) with an Orange plan, but not one of the four “Orange for iPhone” plans.
So many choices for the French. Shame the same couldn’t have been done in other countries.
The German unlocked iPhone costs a whopping 999 euros. Worth a day trip to France if you want to get an unlocked version and save yourself 350 euros.

The Food Network's got an iPhone app
This is pretty great for two reasons. The first being when you're out shopping and need some recipe ideas. This new app is chock full of some pretty decent ones from many of the Food Networks chefs including Alton Brown, Emeril, Bobby Flay, and the butter queen Paula Deen. The other bonus is when you're in the kitchen, and need to check a recipe. Instead of printing you can just set down your phone down and check it from time to time (iPod Touch users can finally make use of their plastic stands as well).
The app is split up into a few sections: recipes, videos, and a search tool. The videos section is pretty limited and just includes quick previews for various Food Network programming.

3G iPhone for Spain in May 2008?

All you US and UK iPhone owners, spare a few moments for the poor Spanish cellphone-loving populous who, if carrier Telefonica had their way, would be able to buy the coveted handset this Christmas but, thanks to Apple being supposedly unable to supply sufficient stocks, will now have to wait until May next year. The rumour of shortages originated from Telefonica senior management, according to Spanish tech firm SevenClick, and the carrier is busily negotiating around Apple’s demand of a whopping 30-percent of subscriber revenue as their monthly tithe.

Ojom Releases Maya - Temple of Secrets Casual Game for iPhone
On Thursday, Ojom announced that it had released Maya, its first game specifically designed for the iPhone. The game functions as a puzzle in which players have to flip, twist and turn triangle-shaped pieces in order to progress through levels and find the Maya temple deep within the jungle. Each puzzle includes a cluster of triangles with a differentcolor in each corner, challenging players to solve by puzzle by flipping or rotating the triangles to scheme a pattern where all corresponding colors are connected.
A deluxe edition of the game was released in conjunction with the iPhone European launch last week via Jamster and Jamba while the standard edition is available for free.

i have a leather case for my i-phone dont go crazy an not use it but yes please protect it.
Feeling protective of your iPhone? Now you can encase it in a layer of machined aluminum. YoTank, maker of heavy-duty protective cases for MP3 players and the like, has introduced PhoneTank for iPhone. If you’re about to do something dangerous, chances are you’re probably putting your iPhone in danger too. YoTank cases are made of solid machined aluminum, so it will protect it from just about anything.
The case comes in 2 pieces of solid aluminum with protective interior felt lining and are held together by screws. Features of the case include access to the nano’s Click Wheel, headphone jack, Dock Connector, and hold switch, access to the iPhone’s touch screen, buttons, and headphone jack, and 2 extra screws and an allen wrench for assembly. It’s available in polished aluminum for $65 or a shiny black powder coat for $73.
You can purchase one for your iPhone or check out their other cool products for iPod and iPod Nano (as well as some slightly less cool ones for the Zune) at YoTank.com

not enough space
Even an 8GB iPhone will run out of storage space quickly once a few space-hogging videos are uploaded. The good news is that, unlike audio, videos can be deleted without connecting to a computer.
There are two ways to accomplish this. First, navigate to the video list on the iPhone’s iPod software. Drag your finger across a video’s title from left to right and the red “Delete” button will appear, as if you were removing email messages. Tap it, and your video will be deleted.
The second method happens after watching a movie. Once it’s done, you’ll be presented with a dialog box asking if you want to remove the video to save space. Touch “Yes.”
No need to carry “Saw II” around after you’ve watched it, right?

radio for your iphone

There is finally an internet radio app for the iPhone/iPod Touch and it didn’t come from Apple. No, in fact, it came from Conceited, the company that offers up a lot of the apps in the Installer library.
iRadio(Use iPhone to visit) grants you access to a fairly long list of MPEG streaming internet radio stations. Its in beta, so it need some work, and you should be cautious about installing it. And yes, before you ask, it is reported to work over EDGE as well
Really, the only area in my opinion that it needs work, is with the data it displays, there are names in the far left column, but you can’t read the full names, and there isn’t any inclination to what type of music the station is playing. Furthermore, all the numbers and stuff in all the other columns, well I have no clue what they are for. However, they mostly have it locked down, functionally the app works, it has a volume knob built into the app, it plays even when your device is locked, and it really does stream music from the internet, it just needs some user-friendliness tweaks.

“Unlimited” Data Allowance for UK iPhone
According to UK Daily Telegraph, O2 will virtually allow iPhone users to have unlimited data allowance with their iPhone. Of course it’s not really unlimited, and it will be under a limit of a “fair usage”. This annoucement has been made by O2 UK chief executive Matthew Key:
ok cant you look anywhere you want anyways.this is just something to get people in uk more excited about the phone.maybe its not doing so well in the uk next post i will see how the sales are over there in the united kingdom.
